All San Diego Public Libraries will be closed on Friday, November 10th, 2023, in honor of Veteran’s Day, and on Thursday and Friday, November 23rd and 24th, in honor of Thanksgiving.

Date:  Mondays, November 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2023Time:  11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.Title:   Yang Style Tai Chi Moving for Better BalanceDescription:  Yang Style Tai Chi Moving for Better Balance is a 10-step form that does not require memorization and can be performed seated. This class emphasizes improving breath, mind, and body co-ordination/function to prevent falls while increasing safety in activities of daily living. Wear flat supportive shoes and loose comfortable clothing.Audience: AdultsDate:  Mondays, November 6, 13, and 27, 2023, and Friday, November 3, 2023Time:  1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.Title:  Body Dynamics, by San Diego Continuing EducationDescription:  This class provides students with an understanding of the Breath-Mind-Body dynamic and its relationship to health and wellness during the aging process.  Students learn breathing techniques for self-care, mental resilience, and physical relaxation as they age.  Please wear flat supportive shoes and loose, comfortable clothing.Audience: AdultsDate:  Mondays, November 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2023Time:  5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.Title:  Meditation for a Happy LifeDescription:  Learn and practice meditation, improve harmony at home and at work, and build your wisdom and inner peace.  This secular and modern approach to traditional Buddhist teachings is led by Ashley Davis, co-founder of The Center for Harmonious Living.Audience: Adults

Date: Friday, November 3, 2023Time:  11:30 a.m.Title:  Art Smarts!  An Art Class for Homeschoolers Description:  Join us for a monthly art class for homeschoolers ages 6 and up. We’ll engage in various artforms including drawing and painting. Date:  Tuesday, November 14, 2023Time:  11:30 a.m.Title:  Learn to Weave!  For Kids and TeensDescription:  Learn how to weave with an expert textile artist and develop your art and math skills!  This class is targeted to homeschooling youth ages 10+. Date: Tuesday, November 14, 2023Time: 1:00 PM – 2:30 PMTitle: OASIS presents:  A Pilgrim Odyssey:  From Holland to the New WorldDescription:  Join local historian Rudy Shappee for a journey following the Pilgrims from their refuge in Leiden, Holland to their final settling of Plymouth Plantation in the New World. We’ll also discuss what life was like for the Pilgrims at sea and the challenges they endured.  This event is free and open to the public, and there is no need to preregister.Audience: Adults, Seniors

Date:  Thursday, November 16, 2023Time:  10:30 a.m.Title:  Preschool Storybox StorytimeDescription: Join us for a Japanese storytelling tradition called kamishibai (kami = paper; shibai = theater). A storyteller stands behind a little wooden theater, also known as a storybox, and reveals a series of illustrations that tell a tale.Audience: Recommended for ages 3-5
