Local combat-wounded veteran surprised with brand new vehicle

On Friday, Oct. 27, a local combat-wounded veteran named U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Carlos Gomez Perez who resides in El Cajon City was surprised with a brand-new 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid.

This was to say thank you for his service and sacrifice ahead of Veteran’s Day from the San Diego Honda Dealers and Wells Fargo.

Heralded as a hero for saving lives, Perez has received several awards, including the Silver Star, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. Corporal Perez was chosen to receive this life-changing gift after applying to Military Warriors Support Foundation’s Transporation4Heroes program.

The presentation of the vehicle was a surprise to Corporal Perez and his entire family at Lake Murray, who thought they were providing feedback about a fishing experience for veterans at Lake Murray Reservoir.

Fishing with his family has been something Corporal Perez has been wanting to enjoy for some time.

On this day, his family got to have their dream fishing trip and were surprised with a brand-new car.
