Citizens’ budget review public forum set for Feb. 15 at Mission Valley Library

If you are an El Cerrito resident interested in learning more about the City’s budget deficit and having input into where cuts should be made, there are meetings in February with the city’s Independent Budget Analyst to review the budget and give the public the opportunity to ask questions about it.

Mayor Todd Gloria, City Council Members, and their staff have been invited to attend at least one of these four meetings, which are being held in or near all council districts to allow elected officials to hear directly from their constituents and better understand their budget priorities and concerns about the city’s taxing and spending in light of record budget deficits.

These community-based budget forums were scheduled in February in Mission Hills, Mission Valley, Mira Mesa, and Southeastern San Diego.

How the budget process works

How infrastructure is prioritized

How road repaving is prioritized and locations selected

Details about the new trash fee, and its cost to residents

The status and importance of Developer Impact Fees (DIFs) and Facilities

Benefit Assessment Fees (FBAs):

How bike lane locations are chosen and funded

How homeless services are funded and accounted for
